Schools Programmes
Monaghan County Enterprise Board is committed to developing an enterprise culture in the County and creating an environment where increasing numbers of people will establish and run their own enterprises. In pursuit of this objective the Board has supported teachers in the delivery of a number of action based enterprise programmes to give students practical experience of the steps involved in setting up and running a business and facilitates the local schools participation in the Student Enterprise Awards.
The County and City Enterprise Boards’ Students Enterprise Awards is a National initiative offering students the opportunity to take a business from the initial idea stage, through market research, production, selling, record keeping, management and finally writing a comprehensive report on their activities. Participation in the programme will encourage students to consider becoming entrepreneurs in the future and they will be much better prepared by their experience. The experience of running a business brings many other benefits to students; it enhances creativity, improves communication skills and provides practical uses for business studies topics.
All school entries will exhibit at a County Final with the County winners in the categories of Junior, Intermediate & Senior progressing to the National Final. For more information on this competition visit www.studententerprise.ie.
